Sydney Design Festival

A collaboration between the Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences (formerly the Powerhouse Museum) and the Museum of Arts & Design, New York.

“Out of Hand: Materialising the Digital explores the increasingly important role of digital manufacture in contemporary art, science, design, fashion and architecture. This exhibition was originally developed and shown in 2013 at the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD), New York.
The MAAS installation includes material from the original exhibition as well as works from Australia and the Asia-Pacific, and objects from the MAAS collection. Works by more than 60 artists, designers and architects from around the world will be featured, including Barry X Ball, Zaha Hadid, Iris van Herpen and Ron Arad.
Out of Hand will examine the place and impact of digital technology in the design and production of objects, recognising that many techniques are now defining new possibilities, understandings and expectations.”
